Tamil Nadu: Severe sandstorm disrupts normal life in Rameswaram

The Indian workers, including traders, businessmen, contractors, and factory labourers, are looking at a downward trend amid the escalating tensions in West Asia as the mode of transportation of goods and payment has stopped, severly impact their livelihood.

A total of 3,996 pilgrims set off by sea to attend the festival at Katchatheevu, an islet located between India and Sri Lanka. The devotees departed from the Rameswaram port after completing mandatory checks by the police, revenue department, citizenship department and customs authorities.

Three people died in a road accident near Kunjarwalasai, next to Uchipuli, Ramanathapuram district, at around 7 pm on Sunday. The deceased were two women and a man, who died in a car and scooty. The accident happened due to a van collision.

The Sri Lankan Navy detained 22 Tamil Nadu fishermen and seized four fishing boats in two separate incidents on Wednesday, triggering unrest among the fishing community, according to the Vice President of the National Fishermen Association, CR Senthilvel.
