Tamil Nadu: Schools closed for classes 1-5 in Vellore due to heavy rain

In view of heavy rainfall, the Vellore district administration has suspended school for classes 1 to 5 on September 21, said officials.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 21 (ANI): In view of heavy rainfall, the Vellore district administration has suspended school for classes 1 to 5 on September 21, said officials.
Heavy rain lashed several districts of Tamil Nadu.
Waterlogging was witnessed at the Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway in Konavattam due to heavy rainfall in Vellore on Thursday. 
Further, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast Light/moderate to moderately widespread, to widespread rainfall, with isolated heavy rainfall very likely over interior Tamil Nadu on September 21st and 22nd.
Earlier on Tuesday, the IMDt said that the southwest monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu, with rainfall occurring at most places over South and North Tamil Nadu over many places, and light rain occurring over Puducherry.  
IMD said that heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the Nilgiris, and Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, and Madurai districts of Tamil Nadu.  
IMD forecasted for today light to moderate rain at a few places, with thunderstorms and lightning at one or two places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
