Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], July 1 (ANI): Tamil Nadu BJP Vice President Narayanan Thirupathy criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's speech in Parliament, accusing him of attempting to mislead the Indian public.
Thirupathy accused Gandhi and the Congress party of trying to divide the nation along religious, caste, and linguistic lines.
"Congress has once again proved that these people particularly Rahul Gandhi are trying to fool the people of India. They (Congress) want to divide the nation by religion caste and so many things," Thirupathy said.
Thirupathy also aimed at Congress's stance on reservations, alleging hypocrisy.
"The congress that said that the reservation for caste will divide this nation wants more than 50 per cent reservation that means what? The same congress that was against reservation now wants reservation because they know this will divide the nation. The Congress who destroyed India by partitioning, now want to divide India in the name of religion caste and language. That's what Rahul Gandhi does," Thirupathy said.
Narayanan Thirupathy said that the defeat in the recently held Lok Sabha election made him speak irresponsibly about the Hindu religion and Hindu faith.
"The third continuous defeat of Congress and without being able to stomach it Rahul Gandhi in an irresponsible way spoke about the Hindu religion and Hindu faith. He was factually incorrect many times. Rahul Gandhi during the election, wanted minority votes so they appeased minorities. For their living in the parliament, they want to talk about Hinduism," Thirupathy said.
In his speech, Rahul Gandhi emphasized that BJP, RSS, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi do not represent the entire Hindu community."Narendra Modi is not the entire Hindu society. BJP is not the entire Hindu society, RSS is not the entire society, this is not BJP's contract," Gandhi said.
"Abhayamudra is the symbol of Congress...The Abhayamudra is the gesture of fearlessness, is the gesture of reassurance and safety, which dispels fear and accords divine protection and bliss in Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism and other Indian religions....All our great men have spoken about non-violence and finishing fear...But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth...Aap Hindu ho hi nahi," the Congress leader added.
