Tamil Nadu: AIU Trichy seizes gold worth Rs 23.84 lakhs

Communist Party of India (Marxist) MLA Kadakampally Surendran on Thursday refuted claims of the complaint made by Unnikrishnan Potti, Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple gold theft case prime accused, stating Surendran conspired with a woman to file a complaint before the Special Investigation Team (SIT). He said that the complaint is a result of a conspiracy running against him in view of the upcoming Assembly elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Tiruchirappalli sent a resounding message that the "countdown of the evil, corrupt" Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) regime has begun, with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson CR Kesavan claiming the party is determined to free the people from the "living nightmare" under the current government, where law and order has reportedly collapsed.

The accused have been identified as Mohammed Syeed Uddin (26), Mohd Tajuddin (31), Mohd Younis (25), and MD Ayub (24). Police said that Uddin had worked for a call centre in Dubai, and contacted other members to acquire some SIM cards.

As the Assembly elections approach, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Arun Nehru emphasised the crucial role of Trichy in Tamil Nadu politics. Speaking to ANI, he remarked, "Trichy has always been a nerve centre of political activity in our state. The outcomes in Trichy significantly influence the broader political landscape of Tamil Nadu. History has shown that the candidates who succeed in Trichy often go on to achieve victory across the entire state, and this has been evident in numerous elections."

The conference venue is being set up at Siruganur along the Trichy-Chennai National Highway across nearly 400 acres, with an additional 200 acres earmarked for vehicle parking.
