New Delhi [India], September 7 (ANI): With just five days left before the end of the deadline day for filing nominations for the upcoming Haryana Assembly Polls, Aam Aadmi Party National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said that talks are still on for an alliance between AAP and Congress to contest the polls together.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Kakkar said the party is continuously working in Haryana and is fully prepared to contest on all 90 seats.
"Talks are ongoing. It is too early to say anything right now. Aam Aadmi Party is continuously working in Haryana. Today, Sunita Kejriwal is also organising a jan-sabha. We are fully prepared to contest elections on all 90 seats... Work is still going; we haven't started our work in the last five days of nomination," she said.
She further stated that they would announce the candidate list for the election in one to two days.
"Our organisation is strong on the ground. We will also announce the candidates in 1-2 days. Talks are ongoing and we hope that some conclusion will be reached (regarding the alliance)," she added.
Speaking on the same matter, AAP National General Secretary Sandeep Pathak said they were waiting for the party's top leadership's order for the go-ahead before announcing the names of the candidates.
He further stated that underestimating the party in the upcoming Haryana election will be regretful for the opposition in the future.
"I want to make one thing clear: on behalf of my workers and leadership, we are fully prepared, waiting for the party's order. As soon as we get the go-ahead, we will announce (candidates). We are ready to contest elections with full strength in every seat. Whoever underestimates us will regret it in the future," he said.
The voting for the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will be held on October 5 and the last date for filing nominations is September 12. The counting of votes will be held on October 8.
In the 2019 elections, the BJP, with 40 seats in the 90-member assembly, formed a coalition government with the JJP, which had won 10 seats, while the Congress secured 31 seats. Earlier this year, the BJP-JJP alliance was dissolved. (ANI)
