Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 17 (ANI): UP Additional Director General (ADG) of Law and Order, Amitabh Yash, on Wednesday said that the firing outside Bollywood actress Disha Patani's residence on September 12 was "taken as a challenge" by UP Police.
Speaking with ANI, he emphasised that the incident challenged UP Police's zero-tolerance policy against crime.
"Incidents like these disrupt the law and order situation and instil fear in the public and they directly undermine the zero-tolerance policy of the UP Police and the UP Chief Minister. This incident was taken as a challenge...," said the UP ADG.
Notably, the two accused involved in the firing outside actor Disha Patani's father's residence in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, have succumbed to injuries following an encounter in a joint operation by Delhi Police and UP STF in Ghaziabad on Wednesday.
Ravinda alias Kullu and Arun, affiliated with notorious gangsters Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, were injured during the encounter near the Tronica City area of Ghaziabad and later succumbed to injuries.
"The two perpetrators of this crime were identified as Ravinda and Arun...In a joint operation of UP STF and Delhi Police, an encounter took place in Ghaziabad city and both the accused got seriously injured...Pistols and cartridges were recovered from the spot...This incident has restored public confidence in the UP Police and the UP government...It was an important operation, because it would have disrupted our entire environment if the UP Police had not succeeded...," Yash told ANI.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had assured Disha Patani's father, Jagdish Patani, of strict action against the accused and security arrangements.
A shocking incident unfolded in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, when gunshots were fired outside Bollywood actress Disha Patani's residence around 3:45 am on September 12. The attack, claimed by notorious gangsters Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar on social media, sent shockwaves through the community.
Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, took responsibility for the firing.
SSP Bareilly Anurag Arya had assured Disha Patani's family of safety; five teams were formed for the investigation.
On September 12, gunshots were fired outside Disha Patani's ancestral home in Bareilly's Civil Lines area, with around 10-12 rounds reportedly fired by two bike-borne men.
Meanwhile, Additional Superintendent of Police (STF) Noida Raj Kumar Mishra explained that due to the suspects' movements across Delhi and Haryana, assistance was sought from the Haryana STF and Counter-Intelligence Delhi unit.
"Since the movement of the perpetrators involved in the firing is in Delhi and Haryana, the help of the Haryana STF and Counter-Intelligence Delhi unit was taken...Two perpetrators were identified as Ravinder and Arun...When we tried to stop them at Ghaziabad, they fired at the police teams. In retaliatory firing, they got seriously injured and were admitted to the hospital, where they succumbed to injuries...Some police officials are also injured...," he said while interacting with ANI at the encounter site.
Apart from this, during the shootout, Sub-Inspector Rohit sustained a gunshot injury to his left hand, while Head Constable Kailash was injured on the bicep of his right arm.
Additionally, two Head Constables from the UP STF, Ankur and Jai, also sustained injuries in the operation, said Delhi police.

Both accused, Ravinda alias Kullu and Arun, affiliated with notorious gangsters Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, were injured during the encounter near the Tronica City area of Ghaziabad and later succumbed to injuries, according to Delhi Police.
Both were residents of Haryana, Ravinda alias Kullu was from Rohtak, while Arun was from Rohtak.
On September 13, Disha Patani's father, Jagdish Patani, speaking to ANI, had addressed the speculations about the firing at their Civil Lines home in Bareilly, which had been linked to remarks made by his elder daughter, Khushboo Patani.
Speaking to ANI, Jagdish stated that her comments had been "misrepresented," and clarified that his daughter's statement was wrongly connected to spiritual leader Premanand Ji Maharaj. "...Khushboo (sister of actor Disha Patani) was misrepresented. Her name was dragged into the matter of Premanand Ji Maharaj. We are Sanatanis, and we respect the sadhus and saints. If someone is misrepresenting her statement, it is a conspiracy to demean us..." said Jagdish.
Khushboo Patani had recently criticised Aniruddhacharya for his alleged remarks suggesting that women who are unmarried at 25 or older are usually promiscuous. This sparked backlash online, with Khushboo being heavily trolled.
She later took to Instagram to clarify that her comments had been taken out of context and falsely circulated as being directed at Premanand Ji Maharaj. (ANI)
