"Take nation into confidence,": Mayawati calls on Govt, opposition to have constructive debate in Parliament

Uttar Pradesh [India], July 21 (ANI): Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati, on Monday morning, on Monday called on the government and the opposition benches to engage in constructive debate during the Monsoon Session of Parliament that gets underway today.
"The much-awaited session of Parliament begins today, and like previous sessions, there is a natural concern among all citizens that it may not, as usual, end up being largely disappointing without proper and comprehensive debates on critical and urgent issues of national and public interest, resulting only in confrontations, accusations, counter-accusations, and disruptions between the government and the opposition, without any assurance of moving forward correctly towards the "better days" for the millions of poor and other hardworking masses of the country," read Mayawati's X post.
Going further, she also mentioned issues of public interest such as unemployment, women's safety and so on. "Moreover, issues of public interest such as rampant inflation, poverty, unemployment, women's safety, and especially the growing mutual disputes and violent clashes over regions and languages, along with matters of national interest like internal and external/border security, are affecting the struggle for people's happiness, peace, and prosperity."
"The public considers it essential for Parliament to function smoothly to formulate and implement long-term concrete policies and strategies through meaningful debates on these issues, so that the country can progress and its people can move forward on the path of development with ease, which is in the interest of all sections of society and the masses," she added further.
Writing on the rapidly changing global political situation and economic conditions, she wrote, "New challenges and threats to the democracy and sovereignty of various countries, including India, have begun to emerge. The political alertness and efficiency of the Indian government alone are not sufficient to address these challenges effectively. Instead, it would be appropriate for the government to move forward by taking the entire nation into confidence through the opposition."
The Bahujan Samaj Party's President urged the opposition benches to adopt a positive approach while asking for a discussion on Operation Sindoor.
"Both the government and the opposition should rise above party interests and unite on these issues, which is the desire of the country's masses. Furthermore, during the current monsoon session of Parliament, it would be better if the government takes a positive approach towards discussing India's 'Operation Sindoor' in the context of the Pahalgam massacre, as the security of the nation and its borders is ultimately the government's full responsibility. The opposition, too, must adopt a cooperative stance with the government, rising above party interests, as the security of the nation and its people is paramount for both the government and the opposition," she said.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament begins on Monday and is expected to be stormy with the Opposition INDIA bloc gearing to corner Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Centre on several key issues, including the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and Air India (AI)171 crash.
