New Delhi [India], Mar 7 (ANI): Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, on Thursday, delivered a speech in Sanskrit at World Sanskrit Award 2018 organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations in New Delhi.

The programme was organised at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan in the national capital.

Addressing the award ceremony, Swaraj delivered a speech of 772 Sanskrit words in 12 minutes.

Various Purohits and Sanskrit scholars were present at the occasion.

It is worth mentioning that this is not for the first time that Swaraj gave a speech in Sanskrit. Recently, the External Affairs Minister at 46th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers Meeting in Abu Dhabi cited quotes from the ancient Sanskrit texts, Holy Qu’ran and Guru Granth Sahib to put her point in a very unique and effective way.

Emphasising the oldest Sanskrit religious text the Rig Veda, Sushma stated that India has always embraced pluralism since it is embedded in the Rig Veda, adding "एकं सद्विप्रा बहुधा वदन्ति", which means "God is one but learned men describe him in many ways". (ANI)
