Congress leader Shashi Tharoor

New Delhi [India], July 26 (ANI): A Delhi court on Thursday approved exemption application of Congress leader Shashi Tharoor from personal appearance in his wife Sunanda Pushkar's death case.
The Patiala House court has taken up applications of Tharoor seeking to restrain Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy from interfering in the case and on the vigilance report of the Delhi Police.
Tharoor had filed an application before the Patiala House court to restrain the Delhi Police from supplying copy of the chargesheet to any third person or stranger in connection with the case.
In his petition, Tharoor said he wanted a "fair trial". He further claimed that there has been "misreporting" and "spreading of false information" regarding him and alleged that it would subvert the legal process.
After Tharoor's plea, the Delhi court issued a notice to the police.
The matter now will come up for hearing on August 23.
On July 23, the Supreme Court disposed of a petition filed by Swamy seeking a time-bound investigation into the Sunanda Pushkar death case. The apex court said that the Delhi Police has already filed a chargesheet in the case.
On July 5, the court granted anticipatory bail to Tharoor and a bail bond of Rs.1 lakh.
Sunanda Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a suite of a five-star hotel in Delhi on the night of January 17, 2014. (ANI)
