Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], October 27 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said that the state has banned cutting of trees to protect its forests and contribute to environment conservation.
Sukhu alleged that four BJP MPs from the state have not adequately highlighted the issues concerning the state in Parliament and urged them to demand green bonus.
"In Himachal Pradesh, we as a state have banned the cutting of trees. We are called the lungs of North India. If we allow the cutting of trees like other states, then we will earn Rs 1 lakh crore in 2 years. We want to protect our forests but our 4 MPs do not raise their voice in the House. They do not raise their demands at all. They should demand green bonus for the state."
The Chief Minister on Friday evening inspected the under-construction 'Himachal Niketan' which will provide accommodation facilities to the students and residents of Himachal Pradesh visiting the national capital.
During his visit to the site of a five-storeyed building at Dwarka in New Delhi being constructed at a cost of about Rs 57.72 crore, the Himachal CM gave directions to the officers for its time-bound completion. Senior officers of the state government accompanied the Chief Minister on the occasion. (ANI)
