New Delhi [India], February 7 (ANI): Azad Samaj Party- Kanshiram President and MP Chandrashekhar Azad on Friday spoke out on the notice issued by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, regarding allegations of the bribe given to his party's MLAs.
Speaking to ANI, Azad said that any such allegations made by a leader should be thoroughly investigated. He also urged the Supreme Court to take cognizance of the investigation if the claims prove to be valid.
"If any such issue has been raised by any leader, then it should be investigated... I also request the Supreme Court to take cognizance of this if the investigation is found to be correct..." Azad said.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal's lawyer Rishikesh Kumar took a jibe at the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team and stated that the team had reached the residence without official documents.
Kumar further accused the agency of reducing its credibility to "a joke."
Speaking to ANI, Kumar said, "They were asked to reach Arvind Kejriwal's residence and they reached here without any official documents. Investigative agencies have been reduced to a joke..."
The lawyer also claimed that the ACB team was trespassing, further emphasising that any investigation or search must have legal orders.
"For entering anybody's residence for investigation or search, the concerned agency must have written orders to do so. Entering someone's property without legal orders is unlawful and is considered trespassing... They were carrying stationary items in that yellow envelope..." he stated.
This comes after the ACB team arrived at Kejriwal's residence after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's principal secretary wrote to the Chief Secretary to conduct an ACB inquiry on the allegation of bribes offered to the AAP MLAs.
This inquiry order was issued after BJP filed a complaint to Delhi LG saying that allegations were "false and baseless" and made with an intent to "tarnish" the image of BJP and create panic and a situation of unrest in Delhi immediately after the conclusion of polling which was held on February 5.
On Thursday, Kejriwal had alleged that the BJP had called 16 of his party candidates to leave Aam Aadmi Party and join the BJP.
"Some agencies are showing that the 'Gali Galoch party' (Referring to the BJP) is getting more than 55 seats. In the last two hours, 16 of our candidates have received calls that if they leave AAP and join their party, they will make them ministers and will give Rs. 15 crores to each of them," Kejriwal alleged.
Meanwhile, the exit polls have varied in their predictions regarding the margin of the BJP's victory. One poll suggested that the BJP could win 51-60 out of 70 assembly seats in Delhi, while two other polls predicted an AAP victory.
The votes will be counted on February 8. AAP has dominated the last two assembly elections in Delhi. (ANI)
