Agartala (Tripura) [India], July 28 (ANI): Condemning the alleged attack by the TIPRA Motha Party workers on BJP party workers, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha called the act "disgraceful" and noted that such "acts won't be tolerated."
Condemning the act, CM Manik Saha on Saturday wrote on his X account, "Strongly condemn the violent & undemocratic attack by TIPRA Motha party workers during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann ki Baat programme at Asharambari."
He further added, "Several BJP karyakartas injured, 3 undergoing treatment at GB Hospital. I visited the hospital, instructed doctors to provide the best care & directed police to take strict action against perpetrators. Such disgraceful acts won't be tolerated."
CM Saha also visited the hospital where the 3 injured BJP workers were admitted after the alleged attack by the TIPRA workers.
While interacting with the media in the hospital premises, he said, "We have been seeing bloodshed and violence in politics in Tripura for many years... The Prime Minister wants calm and quiet politics... But today crossed all limits..."
"These people (BJP workers) were listening to 'Mann Ki Baat' in booth number 30 in Asharambari at the house of a worker. There they (TIPRA Motha party workers) went and beat up the workers... This politics of force through violence will not work in Tripura; it has been too long now", he further added.
Earlier, on Saturday, BJP Mandal President Jayanta Debbarma claimed that over 50 Tipra Motha Party "goons" attacked a Mann Ki Baat event on Sunday in Tripura's Khowai district, injuring several party workers and damaging multiple vehicles.
The incident took place at booth number 30 in Asaram Bari while Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat was being broadcast. According to Debbarma, the attackers arrived armed with sharp weapons, lathis and rods, and began hurling bricks and bottles at BJP workers.
"Over 50 goons of the Tipra Motha Party attacked and disrupted the program. They vandalised my vehicle and also attacked the owner of the house where the Mann Ki Baat program was organised. They also vandalised 15 bikes and several other vehicles," Debbarma told ANI.
He added that six BJP workers sustained injuries, with some hit on the head, mouth, and chest. (ANI)
