Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], September 23 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has promised strict action over the Kashipur violence on Tuesday.
Reacting to the reports of the alleged involvement of an SP leader in the Kashipur violence, Uttarakhand CM said that strict action will be taken against those who take law and order into their hands.
"Strict action will be taken against those who will take law and order in their hands.." Dhami told reporters.
The Uttarakhand CM said that the cost of the damages will also be recovered from the rioters.
"We have brought anti-riots law in the state. Cost of the damages to the government or private properties will be collected from the rioters..." said Dhami.
Earlier, under the strict anti-cheating law enacted by the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state police carried out a major operation. The police have busted a racket that was misleading candidates with false promises of helping them clear the examination, a release said.
According to the release, cheating mafia kingpin Hakam Singh and his associates were arrested by the police. The accused had allegedly been demanding between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 15 lakh from candidates by luring them with assurances of passing the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) exam.
According to the police, their plan was to keep the money if the candidates passed the exam independently. If a candidate failed, they intended to hold the candidates hostage by claiming the amount would be applied to future exams, as stated in the release. Ultimately, the investigation confirmed that there was no violation of the fairness or confidentiality of the examination process.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to demanding money from candidates with false promises of ensuring their selection. Their plan was to keep the cash if candidates cleared the exam naturally, and in case of failure, to deceive them further by offering to adjust the money against future exams. (ANI)
