Strict action will be taken against troublemakers: Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi; appeals for peace in Cuttack

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on sunday appealed for peace and order following a clash between two communities during Durga Puja immersion.

Cuttack (Odisha) [India], October 5 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday appealed for peace following a clash between two groups in the city here and said that the government is monitoring the situation while keeping an eye on "troublemakers".
The situation remained tense in Cuttack as fresh clashes between two groups were reported here on Sunday. This comes following the incident of stone pelting and clash between them during Durga Puja immersion late last night.
In a statement issued by the Odisha Chief Minister's Office, "Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep sorrow over the incident of conflict seen in Cuttack and has appealed to everyone to maintain peace and order. The Chief Minister said that Cuttack city is a thousand-year-old city. Cuttack city is a unique example of brotherhood. However, for the last few days, due to some troublemakers, peace has been disturbed in the city, and the life of the common people is being disrupted."
"The Chief Minister said that the government is keeping an eye on such troublemakers and strict action will be taken against them as per the law," the CMO added.
The Odisha Government has implemented a 24-hour suspension of internet services, starting Sunday, as the situation remains tense here.The ban, which took effect at 7 pm on Sunday, will remain in place until 7 pm on Monday.
Additionally, the use of social media platforms has also been prohibited in the area. It will remain effective in the Cuttack Municipal Corporation, Cuttack Development Authority (CDA), and the 42 Mauza Region.
Odisha Director-General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania said that the situation is under control here."The police are closely monitoring the situation. Action will be taken against all anti-social elements involved in the violence. I would like to inform all residents of Cuttack not to trust any rumour. They should immediately check the police website, the Commissionerate's website, and their Twitter handle," the top cop said. (ANI)
