State government is bolstering growth and development through the promotion of education: Assam CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reaffirmed the government's commitment to uplifting living standards and empowering every citizen of Assam to enable them to lead a life of dignity and self-reliance. Speaking on the final day of the 12-day development campaign in Dibrugarh on Monday Chief Minister Sarma said that the state government has been working very dedicatedly to bring about all-round development of the people of the state belonging to every strata of the society.

Dibrugarh (Assam) [India], December 23 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reaffirmed the government's commitment to uplifting living standards and empowering every citizen of Assam to enable them to lead a life of dignity and self-reliance. Speaking on the final day of the 12-day development campaign in Dibrugarh on Monday Chief Minister Sarma said that the state government has been working very dedicatedly to bring about all-round development of the people of the state belonging to every strata of the society.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Sarma presented benefits under various government schemes. He said that Dibrugarh gained significant support through grants and facilities under the initiatives of the departments of Finance, Disaster Management, Industries and Commerce.
The Chief Minister on the occasion also presented scooters to 2593 students, bicycles to 10270 students and cash awards under Anundoram Barooah Merit Scholarship to 1255 students.
CM Sharma said that the state government's 12-day development campaign is an initiative to help the targeted people through government interventions. This 12-day initiative has been dedicated to the welfare of the people of the state. During this period, the Chief Minister himself along with the Council of Ministers visited different districts and participated in the development campaign.
He said that during this period 20 lakh new ration cards were distributed. 48,673 students have been covered under Dr Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Scholarship. He said that after receiving 2593 scooters, Dibrugarh district secured the first position. Since its inception, the programme benefitted one lakh nine thousand students.
He said that as per NEP 2020, one high school should be located every five kilometres. Considering the provision, the State government is distributing bicycles to every student studying in class IX.
Stating that a new horizon has been created in education, the Chief Minister said that the State government is spending Rs 1500 crore to Rs 2000 crore annually for the benefit of the students. He also said that if the students take education as their vocation, Assam will progress in leaps and bounds.
CM also said that if the pace of development remains like what it is now, a lot of investments will come to Assam. Steps have been taken to ensure that in the new Assam, there will be no dearth of employment avenues in the state. In view of Industry 4.0, new disciplines like AI, Robotics, 3D technology etc have been introduced in the academic landscape of the state.
He also directed the officials to ensure timely completion. It may be noted that this NLCPR-funded sports complex will have an Athletics Zone, Indoor Stadium, Swimming Pool, Practice Ground and Outdoor Courts.
The Chief Minister also visited the upcoming police reserve site in Dibrugarh and took stock of its progress. He inspected the parade cum football ground, the site of barracks and housing and other facilities.
CM Sarma instructed the officials to complete the project being built for Rs 20 crores promptly. He also asked the concerned authority to prepare the ground to be able to host the Republic Day celebrations. He also visited the construction site and inspected the progress of the under-construction BJP Office at Dibrugarh. (ANI)
