Thrissur (Kerala) [India], October 16 (ANI): Congress MP K Suresh addressed the seriousness of the Sabarimala temple gold row, stating that the central government agency must take action in the matter and set up an inquiry under the High Court's supervision. He also claimed that the Devaswom Board President, Devaswom Board Ministers, and members of the Devaswom Board are responsible for the theft of the gold plate.
"The Sabarimala issue is a very serious issue...The Ayyappa devotees are very unhappy. The State government and the Devaswom board are not serious...We demand that the Central Government's agency should inquire into this issue under the supervision of the Kerala High Court," Suresh said.
He further added, "If the state government inquires into this issue, then the main culprits will escape because the ministry belongs to CPM, and also the Devaswom board is controlled by CPM. So, these Devaswom board Ministers, the Devaswom board President, and members of the Devaswom board are responsible for this gold plate taken outside the temple."
Meanwhile, in a recent update, Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) President PS Prasanth has suspended Assistant Engineer K. Sunil Kumar for his alleged involvement in the Sabarimala gold theft case. The decision was made following a board meeting held on Tuesday. Kumar has been named as an accused in the case.
Prasanth stated that retired officers involved in the gold-plating controversy will receive a show-cause notice, with a 10-day timeframe to respond.
"In today's Board meeting, it was decided to suspend Assistant Engineer K Sunil Kumar, who is under investigation. Retired officers involved will receive show-cause notices and must respond within 10 days. Further action will be taken as per the rules after receiving their explanations," Prasanth told reporters.
The controversy centres on suspected irregularities in the gold plating work at the Sabrimala temple in Kerala. (ANI)
