New Delhi [India], September 1 (ANI): Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Monday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of going soft on China during his meeting with President Xi Jinping at the SCO Summit in Tianjin.
The AICC leader criticised PM Modi for calling both India and China as "victims of terrorism."
He also questioned his silence on China's alleged role with Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
In a post on X, Jairam Ramesh wrote, "For a long time, India has been accusing China of its "double standards" and "double-speak" on terrorism. Now, Prime Minister Modi tells President Xi that India and China are both victims of terrorism. If this is not the so-called elephant capitulating before the so-called dragon, then what is it?"

"Even more anti-national is the fact that Prime Minister Modi remained completely silent in his conversation with President Xi about China's jugalbandi with Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, something revealed by top Indian Army officials themselves," the post read.
"The self-proclaimed 56-inch chested leader now stands thoroughly exposed. He betrayed the national interest with his clean chit to China on June 19, 2020. Now, August 31, 2026, will also go down as a day of infamy for his cowardly kowtowing in Tianjin," the post further reads.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue of cross-border terrorism with Chinese President Xi Jinping during their bilateral meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said.
"The issue of cross-border terrorism was raised by the Prime Minister...he asked for China's support on this particular issue. As I said, the Chinese have extended their support in various ways in addressing this issue," Misri told reporters at a special Ministry of External Affairs briefing.
"The issue of cross-border terrorism was raised by the Prime Minister, and he outlined his understanding very crisply and very specifically. He outlined the fact that this is a scourge that both China and India have been victims of, and India is still combating this menace, and he asked for China's support on this particular issue. As I said, the Chinese have extended their support in various ways on addressing this issue," he added. (ANI)
