Sridevi's mortal remains to reach Mumbai by midnight: Amar Singh

New Delhi [India], Feb 26 (ANI): The mortal remains of veteran actress Sridevi are expected to reach Mumbai from Dubai, where she breathed her last, by midnight.

"I have talked to Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Al Nahyan, he assured me that all formalities and reports are complete. Her mortal remains should reach India by midnight," Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh told ANI.

Singh also expressed satisfaction with the forensic report that has ruled out foul play in her death and declared the cause of death as "accidental drowning" in a bathtub full of water.

According to the forensic report, traces of alcohol were also found in Sridevi's body.

Singh, however, dismissed speculations that she was intoxicated at the wedding ceremony.

"In wedding ceremonies, as far as I know, Sridevi ji, she did not consume hard liquor. She used to have wine sometimes like me and like many others in public life," he said.

Besides Sridevi, Amar Singh was also one of the attendees at the wedding in Dubai, and an acquaintance of the actor.

Earlier in the day, the completion of post-mortem analysis revealed that the 54-year-old Indian actress died of accidental drowning in her hotel room's bathtub, after suffering a dizzying spell.

The body has been reportedly sent for embalming and her mortal remains will impart for India after the completion of necessary paperwork.

Meanwhile, celebrities and fans have been visiting the Mumbai residence of Anil Kapoor, brother-in-law to the actress, awaiting the arrival of her mortal remains. (ANI)
