"Special focus on poor, youth, farmers, and women...": Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav on Union Budget 2026

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], February 1 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday said that the Union Budget 2026 focuses on the poorer sections of society, the growing youth, farmers, and women, underlining the allocation of Rs 1.4 lakh crores for the state.
Speaking to the reporters, he said that it is leading India towards becoming a developed nation by prioritising economic growth.
"This budget is based on 'Viksit Bharat 2047' and has a special focus on the poor, youth, farmers, and women. In particular, the budget's direction and objectives aim to lead India toward becoming a developed nation. It prioritises economic growth... Sufficient provisions have also been made to ensure that India becomes a biopharma hub, a global manufacturing hub..." he said.
CM Yadav further highlighted various reforms in the field of infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and healthcare in Madhya Pradesh, saying that the budget will benefit the state.
"Under this budget, clinical trial sites will be established, creating 1000 trial sites. I hope that at the research and development level, both the country and Madhya Pradesh will make significant progress in the AI sector. Reforms will also be implemented in the textile industry, which will benefit the state. An allocation of Rs. 5000 crore has been made for the development of cities with a population of more than 5 lakh. Adequate attention has also been given to the development of pilgrimage sites in smaller cities. Arrangements have been made to ensure that the elderly receive timely treatment through the care ecosystem. The construction of a girls' hostel in every district of the country is a concrete step towards women's empowerment..." he said.
Furthermore, he said that the Union Budget 2026 will ensure that India becomes a global manufacturing hub and help deal with the global challenges.
"Several measures have also been taken to make India a global manufacturing hub; this will enable our government to effectively tackle the challenges posed by other countries..." he said.
The Chief Minister underlined the step to make healthcare more accessible by decreasing the price of medicines for severe diseases.
"A significant step has been taken by making medicines for serious diseases more affordable. If a person from any social class is suffering from a serious illness, the treatment is very expensive, so I would like to congratulate PM Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for making these medicines cheaper..." he said.
CM Yadav said that an attempt has been made to create new employment opportunities by employing thousands of guides at tourist destinations.
He outlined the decision to open the protected sites for tourism, which will enable the global spectators to witness the ancient heritage of India. Further, Yadav underlines that the budget has allocated a large amount of funding to the state.
"From an archaeological and historical perspective, it has been decided to open up the protected sites for tourism. This will provide opportunities to learn about and understand our ancient heritage...A decision has also been made to upgrade district hospitals, and the income tax process has been simplified for small taxpayers. The fiscal deficit target of 4.3% will certainly be beneficial for Madhya Pradesh. A provision of Rs. 1.4 lakh crore has been allocated for Madhya Pradesh..." he said.
Earlier today, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2026-27 in Lok Sabha, her ninth consecutive Union Budget.
The Centre has allocated Rs 1.4 lakh crores for states for the Financial Year 2026-27 as Finance Commission grants, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Sunday.
Presenting the Union Budget 2026-27, FM Sitharaman said the Centre has accepted the 16th Finance Commission's recommendation to retain the vertical share of devolution at 41 per cent.
She said, "The Government has accepted the 16th Finance Commission recommendations to retain the vertical share of devolution at 41 per cent. I have allocated Rs 1.4 lakh crores for states for FY 2026-27 as Finance Commission grants. These include rural and urban local body and disaster management grants." (ANI)
