New Delhi [India], May 15 (ANI): A special CBI court on Wednesday cancelled a Non Bailable warrant (NBW) issued against Aditya Talwar in connection with a money laundering case.
Special CBI judge Anuradha Shukla asked Talwar to appear before the court on May 28.
The court was hearing an application seeking cancellation of the warrant issued against Aditya, son of corporate lobbyist Deepak Talwar.
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate moved Delhi's Rouse Avenue court seeking to declare Aditya a fugitive economic offender as per provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The plea, which was filed through ED counsel Nitesh Rana, is likely to come up for hearing tomorrow.
The ED had, on March 30, filed a charge sheet against Deepak Talwar in the court, in which his son Aditya was named as an accused in the case.
CBI judge Anuradha Shukla Bhardwaj, after taking cognisance of the charge sheet filed by the ED on March 30, had issued production warrants against the father-son duo in the money laundering case.
ED's counsel had earlier told the court that investigation revealed that Deepak Talwar, who is currently lodged in Tihar jail, obtained "undue favours" for private airlines using his contacts.
It was also alleged that he had acted as a middleman to favour foreign private airlines in seat-sharing on Air India's profitable routes, causing huge loss to the national carrier.
Central agencies are probing various other cases related to money laundering against Deepak Talwar. He was arrested after being deported from the United Arab Emirates on January 30. (ANI)
