All participants of Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Markaz identified: Kerala CM

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], Apr 2 (ANI):Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that all the participants of the Tablighi Jamaat at the Nizamuddin Markaz from Kerala have been identified and currently 60 of them are under observation in the state.

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], Apr 2 (ANI):Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that all the participants of the Tablighi Jamaat at the Nizamuddin Markaz from Kerala have been identified and currently 60 of them are under observation in the state. 

Speaking to media persons here, he said that government is monitoring those who participated in the Tablighi Jamaat from Kerala all of them have been quarantined.

"The situation is under control. There is no need for any concern. There is a purposeful campaign being run particularly on social media targeting those who attended the meet and the community they represent," he said on Wednesday.

"At the time of a pandemic, if anyone tries to make religious divide it will be strongly dealt with. Coronavirus doesn't affect a person after checking his religion. Everyone united has to fight this pandemic," added the Chief Minister.

Kerala on Wednesday reported 24 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the total number of patients under treatment to 237. Of the new cases, 12 are from Kasargod district, three from Ernakulam district, two each from Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kannur districts, and one from Palakkad district.

Nine of the fresh cases were reported in those who returned from overseas and the rest got the infection from a local contact. Today, one patient each from Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode districts has recovered.

He also said that the Kasargod Medical College Hospital would be fully functional as a the COVID-19 care centre in the next four days. (ANI)
