Siliguri (West Bengal) [India], July 16 (ANI): State BJP President Samik Bhattacharya on Wednesday criticised the TMC-led West Bengal government, accusing it of compromising internal security.
Bhattacharya further pointed out that a silent demographic invasion is on in the state, asserting that the common people of the state do not want Rohingya to cast their votes in the polls.
"The internal security of West Bengal is being compromised. We are living in a state, having more than 2200 porous borders with Bangladesh, and the situation in Bangladesh is vulnerable right now. A silent demographic invasion is on... The public of West Bengal wants that there should be no name of any Rohingya or Bangladeshi Muslim in the voter list. We will welcome whatever step is taken by the Election Commission. We have also identified 13 lakh voters and submitted it to the Election Commission," he said.
He further vowed to protest against the West Bengal government over illegal sand mining.
"The TMC government has cut all the trees in North Bengal, as Illegal sand mining is happening there. We will stage a protest against it," the West Bengal Chief said.
He called the death of a student of Balasore Fakir Mohan Autonomous College, who self-immolated herself in protest over sexual harassment by her teacher, an unfortunate incident.
"It is a very unfortunate incident... The police have taken action and arrested the accused. The state government should answer the West Bengal SSC teachers' protest," the BJP leader said.
Earlier on Tuesday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, lambasted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of "destroying" Hindu Bengalis.
Adhikari on Tuesday claimed that while the BJP is protesting against the presence of Rohingyas, the West Bengal Chief Minister is "protecting" them.
"Mamata Banerjee is holding a protest tomorrow in support of Rohingyas. We will be protesting against the Rohingyas. Whatever Mamata Banerjee is doing is to protect the Rohingya Muslims. Mamata Banerjee is destroying the Hindu Bengalis," West Bengal LoP said. (ANI)
