Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 9 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey said that the extradition of Tahawwur Rana to India is a "step that is better late than never," but it should have been done "earlier."
On Monday, the US top court rejected Tahawwur Rana, 2008 Mumbai attacks accused stay plea which cleared the path for his extradition to India.
Dubey stated that if he had been brought earlier to India, a lot of Pakistani conspiracies would have been uncovered. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader demanded the death penalty for Rana after the necessary information was extracted from him.
"A step that is better late than never. But it should have been done earlier... Had he been brought in earlier, a lot of Pakistani conspiring activities would have been uncovered... But now he should be brought in and hanged to death after extracting the necessary information from him...", Anand Dubey told ANI on Wednesday.
Anand Dubey further spoke on the Kunal Kamra row and stated that if he has done anything wrong, the police should look after him. He said that it is the CM's duty to provide security to Kunal Kamra as comedians like him can criticise the government democratically.
"Our opinion is for the law and order... If Kunal Kamra has said anything wrong, the police will look after it... Why is law and order being disrupted? It is the Chief Minister's duty to provide security to Kunal Kamra and various other comedians like him so that people can criticise the government democratically...", he said.
On Tuesday, stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra approached the Bombay High Court seeking the cancellation of the FIR filed against him in connection with the 'gaddar' jibe directed at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during his stand-up show 'Naya Bharat.'
Kamra's counsel argued that, in light of the Madras High Court's protective order, his client has offered to give a statement via videoconferencing on multiple occasions due to safety concerns, but authorities have insisted on his physical presence. (ANI)
