Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], December 17 (ANI): Rajasthan's Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully on Tuesday blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ten-year delay in the Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (PKC-ERCP) and demanded that he apologise to the people of Rajasthan for the undue delay, which has impacted the state's development.
The Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (PKC-ERCP) was initially conceived during Vasundhara Raje's tenure. Subsequently, Ashok Gehlot, as Chief Minister, persistently advocated for its implementation with the central government.
Jully further stated that despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Gehlot's administration allocated over Rs 10,000 crores to initiate projects under this scheme.
He also expressed ambiguity over reports of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) being signed, as one was already signed in February.
"Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (PKC-ERCP) was created under Vasundhara (Raje). (Ashok) Gehlot spoke to the central government many times to implement it.... Despite the COVID pandemic, Gehlot approved more than Rs 10,000 crores during the last government and started projects under this scheme... Secondly, the MoU was signed last February but it has not been released till now. Today, it was given in the newspaper that a new MoU will be signed. Which MoU is this? This project was delayed by 10 years because of Modi. For this, he should apologize to the people of Rajasthan," he said.
Notably, PM Modi addressed the 'Ek Varsh-Parinaam Utkarsh' program organized to mark the completion of one year of the BJP government in Rajasthan. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for at least 24 projects worth over Rs 46,300 crore during the event.
PM Modi highlighted the increasing faith of people in the BJP's government, noting the recent victories of the party in Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly election and Lok Sabha election.
"In the last one year, Bhajanlal Sharma and his entire team have worked very hard to give new momentum and direction to Rajasthan's development. This first year has, in a way, become a strong foundation for the coming years. Today's celebration is not limited to the completion of one year of the government, it is also a celebration of the spreading light of Rajasthan, it is also a celebration of Rajasthan's development. Just a few days ago, I came to Rajasthan for the Investment Summit. Big investors from the country and around the world had gathered here. Today, projects worth more than Rs 45,000-50,000 crores have been inaugurated and foundation stones have been laid. These projects will provide a permanent solution to the water challenge in Rajasthan," Modi said. (ANI)
