Shopian attack: Terrorist, accomplices killed in retaliatory firing

The clearance was carried out by Project Sampark from Bufliaz to Peer Ki Gali and Project Beacon from Shopian to Peer Ki Gali. The coordinated efforts enabled the reopening of the vital stretch on February 20 despite challenging weather conditions.

The seized consignment, valued at ₹2.9 crore, along with the vehicle, has been handed over for further legal proceedings. Two individuals were also apprehended in connection with the seizure.

Officials said that 79 RCC of the BRO is carrying out snow clearance to restore connectivity on the Mughal Road up to Peer Ki Gali, located at an altitude of around 13,000 feet. The road remains closed due to fresh snowfall and slippery conditions.

The detenues were found repeatedly involved in activities prejudicial to the security of the State. Despite preventive actions and proceedings initiated against them under Sections 170/126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), they continued to indulge in unlawful activities, thereby posing a serious threat to peace and security in the district, as per the release.

Special NIA court at Patiala House Court on Monday extended the custody for four days of Delhi blast accused Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganai of Pulwama (J-K), Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather of Anantnag (J-K), Dr Shaheen Saeed of Lucknow (UP), and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay of Shopian (J-K) to National Investigation Agency (NIA). They were produced before the court after the expiration of 10 days of NIA custody.
