Shimla’s Market Welfare Committee and Himachal’s Revenue Service Officers Association make donations to ‘Aapda Rahat Kosh’ 

Market Welfare Committee in Shimla’s Totu handed over a cheque of Rupees 1.15 lakh to Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for Aapda Rahat Kosh-2023 on Thursday following the recent fools and landslides in the hill state.

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], September 21 (ANI): The Market Welfare Committee in Shimla’s Totu handed over a cheque of Rupees 1.15 lakh to Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for Aapda Rahat Kosh-2023 on Thursday following the recent floods and landslides in the hill state.
Apart from that, HP Revenue Service (State Taxes & Excise) Officers Association also made a contribution of Rs 6.21 lakh to the relief fund. The cheque was handed over to the Chief Minister by Rakesh Sharma, President of the Association and Ujjal Singh, Executive Vice president, along with other members who were present on the occasion.
The Himachal CM appreciated the efforts of the officers of the department in enhancing revenue collection. The president of the association informed him that the department alone contributes about ninety per cent to the State's own tax revenue.
Earlier, state BJP MLAs on Tuesday donated their one month’s salary towards the Aapada Rahat Kosh and presented a cheque of Rs 13.8 lakh to CM Sukhu, said leader of opposition Jai Ram Thakur.
The former Chief Minister said that they have been working for the people along with the government.
Ahead of this CM Sukhu on September 15 donated his savings of around Rs 51 lakh towards the 'Aapda Rahat Kosh' to extend help to the disaster-affected people of the hill state.
Persistent rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has resulted in multiple landslides and cloudbursts in various areas. According to officials, the current monsoon season has claimed the lives of 400 individuals in rain-related incidents and caused damage to more than 13,000 houses. Incessant rains in Himachal Pradesh have led to multiple landslides and cloudbursts in several places. (ANI)
