Champawat (Uttarakhand) [India], July 11 (ANI): The Sharda river in the Kumaon district of Uttarakhand is in spate due to widespread rainfall.
Drone visuals captured on Thursday from the Sharda Barrage also called the Banbasa Barrage showed the effect of widespread rainfall in the river catchment areas.
Earlier, on July 9, amid the heavy flooding situations prevailing in several parts of Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami interacted with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel deployed in the water-logged areas of Khatima.
Taking to his official X handle, CM Dhami posted photos of his aerial inspection of several flood-affected areas falling under the Kumaon division.
He said "Aerial inspection of Khatima, Haldwani, Banbasa, Tanakpur, Sitarganj and other flood-affected areas under Kumaon division was done. The heavy rains have caused damage to the Terai region of the state."
He further said, "Officials are continuously assisting in the disaster-affected areas as per the instructions given and the affected people are also being sent to safer places."
In another post on X, he said "After reaching Tanakpur (Champawat), I inspected the flood-affected areas on the ground. During this, I met the flood-affected people at Sharda Ghat and Sailanigoth and assured them of all possible help from the government."
The CM has also directed the officers to ensure a regular supply of food, drinking water, electricity and transport to the affected people.
Ensuring that the state government was fully standing with the flood-affected people, Dhami added "After the disaster, the officials have been directed to spray medicine in the affected areas to prevent any water-borne diseases."
He also conducted a field inspection of the flood-affected area Gaulpar in Haldwani of Nainital district. Officials were also instructed to inspect the waterlogging areas and provide necessary assistance to affected people.
Notably, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in many places, with extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Kumaon. (ANI)
