Loktantrik Janata Dal president Sharad Yadav

Patna (Bihar), [India] Dec 8 (ANI): Former Union Minister and Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) president Sharad Yadav on Saturday regretted his body-shaming remark about Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and said that he would apologise to her.
Yadav, who faced criticism for his remark about Raje over her weight, said, "I have very old family relations with her. If my words have hurt her, I express my regret. I will also write a letter to her." Earlier too, he had clarified that his utterances were a mere 'joke' and that his intentions were not to hurt Chief Minister Raje.
On Thursday, Yadav sparked a controversy after he said in an election rally in Rajasthan's Alwar that Raje should take rest as she has gained weight. "Give rest to Vasundhara. She looks too tired and has gained too much weight. Earlier she was slim. She is our Madhya Pradesh's daughter," she said.
Responding to Yadav's statement, Chief Minister Raje had said the former Union Minister did not only hurt her but also insulted all women. "I am absolutely shocked that an experienced leader and the one who has such close relations with our family will use such language. We don't want that our younger generation should use such language," she said. (ANI)
