Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 11 (ANI): There were tears in the eyes of parents, smiles on the faces of children and garlands in the hands of teachers as the session commenced at the much-awaited Atal Residential Schools on Monday.
Children of construction workers, pandemic victims and children eligible under the Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana came to receive education on the lines of Navodaya Vidyalaya.
A total of 80 students, including 40 boys and girls each have been admitted to each branch of the school established across various divisions of the state through a rigorous entrance examination for the sixth grade. District and divisional-level officials also participated in the commencement program organized in these schools and engaged with the students and parents, providing encouragement and support.
These schools are poised to provide a fresh opportunity for the labourers' children and those from underprivileged backgrounds to set their goals high, work towards achieving them, and contribute to the progress of both the state and the nation while making them responsible citizens, said officials.
The inaugural academic session of Atal Residential School, which commenced in Sahjanwa within the Gorakhpur division, was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The teachers extended a warm welcome to the newly enrolled students and their parents.
Vikas Jaiswal, a labourer residing in Nausadh, who had come to enrol his daughter Garima in the school said "Even though my current income has significantly increased, I couldn't afford to send my children to such a prestigious institution. The concerns about their education have now vanished, and I believe their future will be brighter."
During the first session, Aslam, a resident of Chandauli, expressed his aspiration to provide his son with computer education, saying, “Though I have limited income, my son wanted to attend a reputed school. With this school, CM Yogi is helping us realise our dream of getting a quality education for our child, ending our worries."
While the official inauguration of this school by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled for September 23rd, the session has already commenced today. (ANI)
