Kalimpong (West Bengal) [India], May 19 (ANI): The Assam Rifles, on Saturday conducted a significant ex-servicemen rally under the theme 'Serving Those Who Served Us.'
The event saw an impressive turnout of over 500 ex-servicemen, marking a day dedicated to honoring and supporting those who have dedicated their lives to national service.

Lieutenant General PC Nair, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, PhD, Director General of Assam Rifles, alongside officers from the Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles, graced the occasion.
Lt Gen Nair interacted with gallantry awardees, Veer Naris (war widows), widows, and their dependents, emphasizing the organization's commitment to their welfare.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director General Assam Riles lauded the contribution of the veterans and the serving soldiers who have contributed immensely to ensure the security and prosperity of the North-East and the country.
During the rally, the veterans were briefed on various beneficiary schemes designed to support them and their families.
Key highlights included information on upcoming recruitment rallies, sports quota for recruitment in Assam Rifles, reservations in educational institutions and hostels, the Ayushman Bharat healthcare scheme, and the extension of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) to Assam Rifles veterans.
