Ramanagara (Karnataka) [India], October 1 (ANI): After tying up with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi last month, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy held a joint meeting with Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS)party workers on the alliance in Karnataka's Bidadi town in Ramnagar district.
"In today's meeting our senior party leaders anonymously have given an endorsement to continue the alliance between BJP and JD(S). Every leader who attended here unanimously gave authorisation to Deve Gowda ji and myself. There is no difference in our party. Everbody gave us endorsement with one voice. All 18 MLAs were present here," HD Kumaraswamy said speaking to reporters after the meeting.
JDS district presidents, MLAs, former Ministers, former MLAs, party candidates who contested in 2023 Legislative Assembly Elections and party workers were present in the meeting.
The JD(S) had on September 22 joined hands with the BJP-led NDA to take on the Congress party in Karnataka in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
JD(S) leader and former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy made the announcement of the tie-up after meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP chief JP Nadda in the national capital.
Earlier last week, JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda said that the decision to ally with the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections was taken after consultation with his party colleagues.
“Before allying with BJP, I took the views of our 19 MLAs and 8 MLCs who said that JD(S) should consider entering into an understanding with BJP,” Deve Gowda said. (ANI)
