Security forces bust terrorist hideout in Assam

Guwahati (Assam) [India], September 20 (ANI): The Indian Army troops of the Red Horn Division under the Gajraj Corps recently carried out a hugely successful Joint operation along with Assam Police, wherein a terrorist hideout was busted.

Security forces bust terrorist hideout in Assam

Guwahati (Assam) [India], September 20 (ANI): The Indian Army troops of the Red Horn Division under the Gajraj Corps recently carried out a hugely successful Joint operation along with Assam Police, wherein a terrorist hideout was busted.

In a press release, the Army said that based on specific intelligence about the presence of Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) Cadres, a unit of the Red Horns Division and Police launched a series of operations at multiple locations in West Karbi Anglong District of Assam on September 18-19.

"The apprehension of one cadre led to the other and finally five HNLC cadres were apprehended. The cadres also revealed the location of a hideout in jungle near the Assam-Meghalya border, where cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives were hidden," said Public Relations Officer Public Relation Officer Lt Colonel Suneet Newton.

He also said that the joint operation team searched the jungle on the morning of September 19 and busted a hideout deep inside.

"Huge cache comprising two G3 Rifles, one 303 Rifle(Factory Made), one 7.62 mm Pistol (Factory Made), one Single Barrel Gun (Factory Made), 10 Kg Explosive, 40 Detonators, 66 Live Rds and other warlike stores were recovered," said Lt Colonel.

This comes two days after the army troops from the same formation conducted a similarly successful operation in the East Karbi Anglong District, where another terrorist hideout of Kuki Liberation Front had been busted and a Senior functionary of the group was apprehended with arms and ammunition.

"These sustained specific intelligence based people friendly operations against these terror groups have created fear amongst them and are appreciated by the peace loving citizens of the area who want succour from the illegal and unlawful violent activities of these banned outfits," said Lt Colonel Newton.(ANI)
