"Security arrangements put in place ahead of polls in J-K": Ramban SSP Kulbir Singh

Ramban Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulbir Singh said on Thursday that the security arrangements have been put in place ahead of the Assembly polls in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Banihal (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 5 (ANI): Ramban Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulbir Singh said on Thursday that the security arrangements have been put in place ahead of the Assembly polls in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking with ANI on the security arrangements ahead of the J&K assembly elections, SSP Singh told ANI, "Overall situation in the Ramban district is very good. During the parliamentary elections, the situation was equally good and people voted in good numbers. We hope that the trend continues this time around as well. Keeping in mind the incidents that happened in Doda, our (security) arrangements are in place and our deployments are adequate..."
SSP Singh said they have instructed officials to deal with the issue of drugs, which will come into play during the polls.
He added, "Drug use will also come into play. We have instructed our officers to deal with the issue. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs... We have a clear message for the consumers and peddlers of drugs that they will be behind bars."
"We are also monitoring social media for any misinformation that can be propagated using the medium...," he said.
Earlier on Thursday, Ravinder Raina, who is the Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate for the Nowshera Assembly constituency for the upcoming Assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, held a roadshow.
The BJP leader, earlier on Thursday filed his nomination for the Nowshera Assembly constituency. Ravinder Raina claimed that there is a strong wave of BJP in the entire Jammu and Kashmir.
"There is a strong wave of BJP in the entire J&K. Despite being close to the international border, BJP workers of Nowshera gathered and carried out this roadshow with full zeal and enthusiasm... I hope that when the voting takes place here, the BJP government will be formed with a huge majority. BJP is moving towards a big victory in J&K...," BJP Jammu and Kashmir chief told ANI.
Polling in Jammu and Kashmir will be conducted in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1.
Jammu and Kashmir has 90 assembly constituencies, with 7 seats reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and 9 for Scheduled Tribes (STs).
These will be the first elections in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. The counting of votes will be held on October 8. (ANI)
