Supreme Court

New Delhi [India], Oct 30 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked for the list of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers investigating the case of alleged sexual assault of girls in Bihar's Muzaffarpur shelter home by October 31.
When apprised that the inmates in the shelter home were allegedly given drugs, the apex court said: “These girls are being injected with drugs so that they can be raped. What is this going on?”
Earlier, the top court had stated that the CBI team investigating the case should not be changed.
On October 25, while perusing the status report submitted by the CBI in the case, the court had said that the report revealed "shocking, horrible and scary" details of how the crime was committed.
During the hearing, the apex court had said that primary accused Brajesh Thakur should be shifted to a jail outside Bihar as he "is a very influential person."
"It's very scary and terrible. What is the Bihar government doing? Brajesh Thakur is a very influential man and obstructing the investigation," the top court had said.
More than 40 minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted over a period of time in the shelter home which was run by Thakur's state-funded non-governmental organisation (NGO).
Subsequently, the NGO was blacklisted and the girls were shifted to other shelter homes in Patna and Madhubani.
The case came to light following an audit report filed by Mumbai's leading research institute, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). (ANI)
