New Delhi [India], September 18 (ANI): The Supreme Court has declined a petition seeking directions to curb noise pollution and regulate the use of light laser beams and loudspeakers in public spaces, gatherings and events during festivals in Maharashtra.
A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra has rejected the plea saying festivals like 'Ganapati puja' are over in the State.
The apex court in its order on September 17 pointed out that the Bombay High Court had permitted the petitioner to make a representation before the concerned authorities.
The top court was hearing an appeal filed by 'Akhil Bhartiya Grahak Panchayat' against the Bombay High Court's April 20 order, which disposed of the PIL against the usage of laser beams and loud sound systems during religious processions and other ceremonies.
The High Court in its order had said that the petitioner can submit a representation to the appropriate authority/State government to take measures for regulating the use of light laser beams. (ANI)
