New Delhi [India], Feb 11 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday exempted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from personal appearance in a court in Amethi in Uttar Pradesh in a case of alleged derogatory remarks against the BJP.
The remarks were allegedly made in the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Campaigning for AAP candidate Kumar Vishwas, Kejriwal had reportedly said that casting a vote for the BJP or Congress would be betrayal to the country.
Following a complaint, sector magistrate Premchand had ordered registration of a case with Musafirkhana police station against Kejriwal.
On January 21 this year, BJP filed another defamation case against Kejriwal and other members of the AAP for allegedly blaming it for the deletion of names of lakhs of voters from the electoral rolls in the national capital.
Apart from the Delhi Chief Minister, AAP's Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Gupta, MLA Manoj Kumar and AAP spokesperson Atishi Malena were named in the case filed by BJP's Delhi unit leader Rajeev Babbar in a Delhi court. (ANI)
