New Delhi [India], Apr 30 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the embattled real estate group, Amrapali, to appraise it by tomorrow with regard to all transactions with Indian cricketer, M S Dhoni, who had worked as a brand ambassador for the company between 2009 and 2016.
A division bench headed by Justices Arun Mishra and U U Lalit also asked Amrapali to disclose the remuneration Dhoni was paid during his tenure as a brand ambassador by different companies of the group.
During the hearing, the court accepted a forensic audit report in connection with the matter.
On March 27, former Indian skipper Dhoni had knocked the doors of the apex court, seeking its direction to the Amrapali group for payment of pending dues allegedly amounting to Rs 40 crore, towards his services to the real-estate company.
"The embattled real estate group owes Rs 40 crore to the former cricket captain over his services to the group while acting as a brand ambassador," Dhoni's lawyer M L Lahoti had told ANI.
In October last year, the Supreme Court had sent Amrapali group CMD Anil Sharma and two other directors to judicial custody to ensure that documents related to 46 companies were not tampered with and provided to the forensic auditors.
The apex court had directed that the CMD and two other directors would stay in a hotel under police surveillance. (ANI)
