Supreme Court in India

New Delhi [India], Nov 12 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday deferred the hearing on the petition filed by Central Bureau of Investigation Director Alok Verma to Friday after Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) delayed submitting its inquiry report.
The CVC today submitted three inquiry reports in a sealed cover before the Supreme Court.
On October 26, the top court had asked the CVC to complete the inquiry in connection with the allegation made against Verma within a period of two weeks.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta also apologised to the apex court for the delay in filing the CVC report against Verma saying the inquiry got over on November 10.
A bench headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi pulled up CVC for not filing the report on November 11 and said that the Supreme Court Registry was opened on Sunday for the report.
"Our registry kept waiting for you on Sunday. But you did not inform either. There was no word from you. How long do the Registrars wait?" the CJI asked.
Acting CBI Director M Nageshwar Rao also submitted before the top court the decisions that were taken by him. Dushyant Dave, senior advocate of NGO Common Cause, had said that Rao was taking policy decision despite having been asked not to.
Chief Justice of India Gogoi said, "The spirit of our order was that no important decision can be taken. If there is any violation of the order, we will see." (ANI)
