Satyendar Jain defamation case: "Complaint politically motivated," argues counsel for BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj

In a significant development in the ongoing defamation case filed by former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain against BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, the counsel for BJP MP has made submissions in the Rouse Avenue court, alleging that the complaint against her is politically motivated.

New Delhi [India], January 13 (ANI): In a significant development in the ongoing defamation case filed by former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain against BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, the counsel for BJP MP has made submissions in the Rouse Avenue court, alleging that the complaint against her is politically motivated.
Her counsel submitted that this complaint is politically motivated and the complainant is using the same for electoral politics. Jain was in custody in the same matter. His bail applications were rejected by the court.
Former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Satyendar Jain has filed a defamation complaint against BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, alleging that her remarks in a television interview have tarnished his reputation. The Rouse Avenue Court is set to consider the complaint today.
Advocate Siddhesh Kotwal appeared for Bansuri Swaraj.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Neha Mittal after hearing the submissions has adjourned the matter for further hearing on January 22, 2025.
Former Delhi Minister Satyendra Jain has filed a defamation complaint against BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj. The court had issued a notice to her.
On December 16, the Court had issued notice to her on the Complaint.
Jain has also filed a civil defamation case against her.
Advocates Rajat Bhardwaj, Mohd. Irshad appeared for Satyendra Jain.
On December 10, the court had listed the Complaint of Satyendra Jain for order on Pre Summoning evidence/ notice in support of his complaint.
The court had said that before issuing the notice, the complainant should be permitted to leads pre summoning evidence.
AAP leader and former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain has alleged that Swaraj had made defamatory remarks against him during an interview on a TV channel on October 5, 2023. This interview was watched by millions of people.
He has claimed that these remarks were made by Bansuri Swaraj to defame him and to gain undue political advantage.
The allegations were levelled in context of an ED raid at his house.
Former Delhi Minister Jain has alleged that Bansuri Swaraj falsely stated that Rs 3 crores were recovered from his house. She had also stated that 1.8 Kgs gold and 133 gold coins were recovered from the house of complainant, he has claimed.
It is stated that these statement was made in context with the raid of the Enforcement Directorate at complaint's house. He is on bail in this case and same is pending before the court.
She further defamed by calling him 'Corrupt' and 'Fraud'. Several false, malicious and defamatory allegations were leveled against the complainant, he alleged.
It is stated that the accused has played havoc with the reputation of the complainant and smear campaign has caused a cascading effect on the complainant as husband, father, brother, friend and as a common of the society, apart from scarring his otherwise unblemish political reputation.
It is said that the damage and dent caused by the frivolous allegations levelled by the accused is immeasurable as the complainant's character and reputation stands assailed not only as the elected representative and mass leader, but even in his personal capacity. (ANI)
