New Delhi [India], March 20 (ANI): Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday has reacted sharply to RSS' Sunil Ambekar's recent statement regarding the Nagpur violence. Sunil Ambekar on Wednesday had said that the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb was "not relevant" in today's times while asserting that any form of violence was discouraged.
"The same people raise this issue, and the same people ignite the fire and now they are saying that the issue should not be raised," he said, criticizing Ambekar's remarks on the ongoing tensions in Nagpur.
On the issue of delimitation, Yadav expressed his concern over the Bharatiya Janata Party's approach. "I am with the people of Tamil Nadu because no one knows what kind of delimitation the Bharatiya Janata Party will do. Haven't you seen how they fight elections?" he questioned.
Yadav called for a census to be conducted first, followed by a caste census before any decisions on delimitation are made.
"First, the government should conduct a census and then caste census should be done," he added.
Earlier, The SP Chief hit out at the BJP-led Central government over the issue of farmers' protests, stating that they don't care about the farmers.
Speaking to reporters, the SP chief said, "As far as farmers are concerned, the BJP does not care about them... We have to improve our system from the ground, make farmers prosperous. But the BJP sees the economy from above and makes big people rich... No government anywhere should do injustice to farmers, their demands should be discussed..."
Meanwhile, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday met with the Congress MPs from Punjab, who were protesting in the Parliament premises over the issue of farmers', a day after the Punjab government evicted protesting farmers from the Shambhu Border.
Aam Aadmi Party MP Sandeep Pathak on Thursday said blocking roads in Punjab will only harm farmers and asserted that only the central government is capable of resolving the issue.
Speaking to ANI, Pathak said, "Only the central government can solve them. Blocking roads in Punjab will only harm the farmers. Small traders have a lot of issues and the Punjab government is their own government, whatever problems are there related to Punjab, the government is ready to sit with them 24 hours, but the big question is that the demand should be made to the central government."
