Samba officials asked to install Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao ringtone

Samba (Jammu and Kashmir)[India] Feb24 (ANI): Official in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir has been asked to have 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' ringtone on their phone.

Sheetal Nanda, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Samba, has issued a circular notice to all the officers under her jurisdiction and directed them to ensure that all the employees of their respective departments should install 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' ringtone on their mobile phones.

Justifying her action, Sheetal Nanda said "We celebrate 'Ladli Beti Divas' on the 7th of every month and take similar small steps to promote the cause. Those with BSNL numbers have already installed this ringtone. We have now tied up with Jio for the same and are in talks with Airtel and Vodafone".

Aijaj Kesar, Assistant Commissioner, Samba, said, "It's a noble initiative by the DC. If such a ringtone is installed on your phone, and when someone calls you, then you will think about 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' by hearing this ringtone. The idea of this initiative is to spread the message as much as possible. We appeal to more and more people to install this ringtone."

While some people have welcomed the initiative, others have criticised it and questioned the DC's authority to issue such orders. (ANI)
