Sabarimala temple row: NCW takes cognisance of attack on women journalist

Pathanamthitta (Kerala) [India], Oct 17 (ANI): The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Wednesday took cognisance of attack on women journalists by the devotees protesting against the entry of women between the age group of 10 years to 50 years in the Sabarimala temple.

Pathanamthitta (Kerala) [India], Oct 17 (ANI): The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Wednesday took cognisance of attack on women journalists by the devotees protesting against the entry of women between the age group of 10 years to 50 years in the Sabarimala temple.
Meanwhile, portals of Lord Ayyappa temple were opened today at 5 pm and the devotees can offer prayers till 10.30 pm. The portals will remain open till October 22.
Scores of devotees, including women and various right-wing organisations, gathered in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, protesting against the entry of women of all age group in the holy shrine.
Protesters even blocked and attack Republic TV journalist Pooja Prasanna's car in Pathanamthitta district. India Today journalist Mausami Singh and its crew also faced the ire of the protestor at the Nilakkal base camp.
ANI reporters Ayushmaan Kumar and Karam Ingerlose were also attacked by the devotees while they were covering the protest in Kerala.
Ayushmaan was attacked at Nilakkal base camp when he was taking the pictures of women checking the buses for women devotees.
While Karam was slapped by protesters, his phone was snatched and broken into pieces by them when he was shooting a video in Erumely. The protesters asked him to apologise for shooting the video and let him go only after he apologised.
The shrine of Lord Ayyappa is located on the mountain range of the Western Ghats. It has open for the first time today after the Supreme Court's verdict permitting women of all age groups. (ANI)
