Ruling, Opposition MLAs spar in Kerala Assembly over corruption issues

Vijayan said there is no anti-incumbency in the state, adding that the people hold a positive view of the government and its policies and believe only the current administration can take Kerala forward.

Congress MP Jairam Ramesh on Thursday claimed that the Modi government is "clearly afraid" of a discussion in both Houses of the Parliament on the situation in West Asia and its impact on India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Tiruchirappalli sent a resounding message that the "countdown of the evil, corrupt" Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) regime has begun, with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson CR Kesavan claiming the party is determined to free the people from the "living nightmare" under the current government, where law and order has reportedly collapsed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a strong attack on ruling DMK in poll-bound Tamil Nadu and accused it of dynastic politics, "scientific corruption model" and said people have made up their minds for a change in the state.

"Telangana Speaker was under immense pressure to take this decision. Rahul Gandhi is a joke of a leader. On one hand, he flaunts the constitution of India and continues to portray himself as the saviour of the constitution of India, and he also talks about defections and how automatic disqualification should be done," he told the media.

Piyush Goyal, while talking to the media, said, "NDA is going to sweep the next election, removing the corrupt Stalin government. The people of Tamil Nadu will never accept Udhayanidhi Stalin as their Chief Minister, and this is the contest to save Tamil pride, culture and people from the corrupt practices of the Stalin family."

Danam Nagender had won from the Khairatabad assembly constituency with a BRS ticket and later contested as MP from Secunderabad on a Congress ticket.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Centre, all State governments and institutions receiving public funds to dissociate the chairperson of the NCERT social science curriculum, Professor Michel Danino, along with his two associate members, from any role in preparing school curriculum or finalising textbooks for the next generation over the controversial sub-chapter titled "Corruption in the Judiciary" in the Class 8 NCERT Social Science textbook.

Keralam BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar, while speaking to the reporters, said, "Let us be clear in what context this drama is happening. There are 30 days for the elections, the CPM CM very clearly knows that we won't remain the CM because the govt will be booted out by the people of Keralam for misgovernance and corruption."
