Rs 49 lakh cash seized in Andhra Pradesh's Prodduturu town

Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Mar 23 (ANI): The state police on Saturday seized unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 49 lakh from a gold merchant during a search operation in Prodduturu town.

Police said that on being interrogated, Tirumalaiah could neither give any satisfactory answer nor had any documents in support of the cash.

Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Mar 23 (ANI): The state police on Saturday seized unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 49 lakh from a gold merchant during a search operation in Prodduturu town.
According to Prodduturu Circle Inspector (CI) Ramalingaiah, the police carried out a search operation in Umesh Chandra circle in Kadapa district based on a tip-off.
“The Rs 49 lakh cash was seized from Prodduturu based gold merchant, who has been identified as Tirumalaiah, while he was returning from Hyderabad to Prodduturu in an auto,” he said.
He further said that on being interrogated, Tirumalaiah could neither give any satisfactory answer nor had any documents in support of the cash.
As per the orders of higher officials, the police seized the money and registered a case. Later on, the seized money was handed over to the district treasury office. (ANI)
