Roads in several parts of Dharamshala choke amid rising tourist footfall

The Union Ministry of Tourism has undertaken multiple initiatives to enhance the safety and security of tourists across the country, Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, informed the Lok Sabha on Monday in a written reply.

Over 120 participants from 32 countries across the world would attend the 3-day event to show their support for the cause of Tibet.

With the introduction of passenger and freight train services, Mizoram has experienced a significant transformation in both passenger transportation and the movement of goods across the state. This development has not only improved connectivity but has also contributed to economic growth and further strengthened tourism in the region.

The tourists had travelled to Bahrain on February 24 on a tourist visa and were scheduled to return after four days. However, escalating tensions and reported missile and bomb attacks disrupted normal flight operations, leaving them stranded.

A group of tourists from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, including Hyderabad resident Salmon Raj, have sought urgent assistance from the Central and State governments after being stranded in Bahrain amid escalating tensions in West Asia.
