Mendhar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Aug 21 (ANI): Mohammad Hanif, the father of slain rifleman Aurangzeb, on Tuesday called upon Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and resolve the age-old disputes between the two nations.
Speaking to ANI about Congress leader Navot Singh Sidhu's meeting with Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa during Imran Khan's swearing-in ceremony, Hanif said, "It was good that Sidhu saab met the Army chief. I think they should also meet us. Our children are being martyred, I want that to stop. If Imran Khan takes one step forward towards us, we will take 100 steps towards them."
He further stated that Imran Khan should take the initiative and meet with Indian authorities to advance peace talks. "I appeal to him to come and meet us. If he doesn't, that means he is scared, and only thieves are scared. If he is not a thief, he should come and meet us. I request Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji to meet him if he comes," Hanif said.
"There should be an understanding between the two countries. No person should be killed, and both the countries should develop," Hanif added.
Aurangzeb was a member of the 44 Rashtriya Rifles and was posted in Shopian district. He was returning home for the festival of Eid when he was abducted from a vehicle in Pulwama. His bullet-ridden body was recovered on June 14 this year.
He was posthumously conferred the Shaurya Chakra, third highest gallantry award on the 72nd Independence Day. (ANI)
