RG Kar rape-murder case: CPI(M) launches 'Lalbazaar Abhiyan', demands Police Commissioner's removal

The cadre of Communist Party of India (Marxist) protested on Friday in Lal bazaar, Kolkata, near the police headquarters to demand justice in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case and removal of the Commissioner of Police.

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], September 13 (ANI): The cadre of Communist Party of India (Marxist) protested on Friday in Lal bazaar, Kolkata, near the police headquarters to demand justice in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case and the removal of the Commissioner of Police.
In a post in X, the CPI(M) state committee handle mentioned the 'Lalbazar Abhiyan' to demand the punishment of those guilty of the rape and murder of the trainee doctor and demanding the removal of the Commissioner. "Do not give up the fight! Lalbazar Abhiyan of Left Front to demand speedy punishment of those guilty of rape and murder of a young doctor by RG, removal of police commissioner," the post read.


Earlier on September 3, junior doctors also held a protest demanding the resignation of the Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal.
West Bengal Legislative Assembly LoP Suvendu Adhikari also had written to President of India Droupadi Murmu and Union Home Minister Minister Amit Shah, requesting them to withdraw/forfeit the President's Police Medal and Police Medal conferred upon Vineet Goyal, alleging shameful conduct during the course of investigations into the rape and murder of the trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College
In a post on X, Suvendu Adhikari shared, "I have written a letter to the President of India Droupadi Murmu Ji requesting her to withdraw/forfeit the prestigious President's Police Medal and Police Medal conferred upon Vineet Goyal; IPS, (West Bengal: RR - 1994), presently Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, in connection with his reprehensible, deplorable and shameful conduct during the course of investigations into the rape and murder of the Resident Doctor of RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata."
He further alleged that Goyal's complicity in the destruction of material evidence and deliberate inaction during the vandalism at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on the night of 14th August, 2024 has been well documented in the media. (ANI)
