Pune (Maharashtra) [India], March 5 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar said revealing the number of casualties inflicted in the air strike carried out on terror launch pads in Pakistan is "not good for the country."
“I have worked in the Defence Ministry for some time and such numbers are never revealed in public. This is immature and not good for the country,” he said while responding to BJP chief Amit Shah's statement on the same.
He also rejected allegations of questioning the air strike.
“I never raised questions (on air strike). I have always said one thing that we completely trust the armed forces of India. For our security, they won’t step back even if they will have to give their life for it. When the (Pulwama) attack took place after the meeting, I said that we don’t fight politics over it. Here, the entire country stands united with the soldiers,” he added.
However, Pawar said that it was not ok for the Prime Minister to talk ‘irresponsibly’. “We have Migs and Sukhois. Sukhoi is also a capable aircraft. I am just saying that he should not talk like this,” Pawar said on a question about Prime Minister Modi’s statement that Rafale jets would have delivered better results.
Less than two weeks after 40 CRPF personnel were killed in an attack carried out by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Pulwama, the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out air strikes targetting terror launch pads in Pakistan's Balakot. (ANI)
