Restrictions on civilian movement on NH 44 in J-K relaxed

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 7 (ANI): The state government on Tuesday lifted restrictions on civilian movement between Srinagar and Udhampur on Wednesdays. However, the restrictions will continue on Sundays.
"The restriction on civilian movement between Srinagar and Udhampur on NH-44 will be lifted on Wednesdays with effect from May 13," said a press release issued by the government.
The local administration will also facilitate limited civilian movement including allowing the state transport buses during the period of restriction, said the government statement.
Earlier on May 2, the state government lifted all restrictions on civilian movement between Srinagar and Baramullah on NH44.
In the wake of Pulwama terrorist attack on February 14 and ongoing general elections, the government had imposed restrictions on civilian movement between Baramullah and Udhampur in order to provide safe passage to the convoy of the security forces.
A CRPF convoy, on its way from Jammu to Srinagar, was attacked by a suicide car bomber on the National Highway in Pulwama district, killing 40 personnel.
Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) had claimed the responsibility for the attack.
Subsequently, the government had issued orders to stop civilian movement every Wednesday and Sunday from 4 am to 5 pm. (ANI)
