Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], April 16 (ANI): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has urged all party MLAs to intensify public outreach and counter what he described as the opposition's false propaganda.
Speaking at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting in Hyderabad, he instructed legislators to visit every village in their constituencies and directly engage with people from April 16 to June 2.
"It is the responsibility of everyone to reach out to people and explain the important decisions taken by the government. MLAs should visit every village in their respective Assembly Constituencies from tomorrow to June 2. I will also allocate time to meet people from May 1 to June 2," he said.
The Chief Minister said the party must remain united and committed to strengthening public trust, especially in the face of misinformation. He accused the BJP and BRS of launching a joint campaign using artificial intelligence to mislead the public regarding the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) land issue.
"The opposition spread false propaganda using Artificial Intelligence on HCU land. Believing the opposition campaign to be true, Prime Minister Modi also made bulldozer comments. BJP and BRS are jointly spreading a poisonous campaign against the people's government," Reddy said.
He emphasised that the government must stay connected with citizens to defend its credibility and protect democratic values.
"We will have a good future only if the prestige of the party and the government enhance," he added, calling on party MLAs to maintain discipline and focus on delivering on electoral promises.
The CLP meeting was convened to review government performance, coordinate outreach strategies, and assess the impact of recent decisions on public perception. Senior Congress leaders from across the state were in attendance.
Meanwhile, as the Telangana government officially enforced Scheduled Caste (SC) sub-categorisation for all future recruitment and education-related decisions, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the state had created history by becoming the first in India to implement Scheduled Caste (SC) sub-categorisation.
CM Reddy called it the "best tribute" to Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary.
Posting on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said, "Telangana is the first state in India to implement the revolutionary decision of SC Sub-Categorisation. We are all proud to have made history."
"On the highly auspicious day of the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna, Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the Telangana State government paid the best tributes by bringing into force a great Act of Social Justice addressing a long overdue demand of classification of SC sub-castes," he wrote.
Reddy also acknowledged the formal initiation of the process with the release of a government gazette.
He wrote, "To empower and ensure opportunities for all sections of Dalits, the state government issued a gazette notification, the first copy of which was handed over to me today by the committee that undertook the historic work."
Earlier, Telangana Minister for Irrigation, Food & Civil Supplies, Uttam Kumar Reddy, who also heads the cabinet sub-committee on the matter, said the policy is aimed at the equitable distribution of reservation benefits among SC sub-castes. (ANI)
